Our School Council has been in place for a number of years, with learners in Year 2 – 6 being given the opportunity to nominate themselves for a position each September. Each candidate is taken through a ‘hustings’ process, with the rest of the class then being given the opportunity to vote for their candidate of choice.
The School Council carry out a number of key roles each year, which includes setting themselves targets for the year, carrying out pupil voice interviews, taking part in pupil voice interviews (linked to behaviour, school meals, extra-curricular activities and breaktime/lunchtime provision etc.) and organising fundraising activities.
We have a thriving Worship Council in school who work closely with Mrs Brooke and Mrs Savage to develop all aspects of our school’s work as a Church of England school. The Worship Council have a number of key tasks to complete each year, which includes regularly planning and leading Collective Worship for the whole school, reviewing and evaluating Collective Worship and the impact of worship on learners and reviewing the impact of the school’s vision and values. They also play a lead role in our weekly acts of worship with responsibilities such as ‘AV technician’ and ‘welcomer’ being most sought after!
Each year, our Worship Council plans and leads our Lenten fundraising and in recent years, they have chosen Bishop Ivan’s ‘Give a child a hope’ charity to be the focus of their fundraising, as they believe that his cause closely aligns with our school values.
